Angus Macleod | Owner

Angus was born in Barvas and has never had any desire to leave the island. He is the typical island man with many talents and began his working career as a joiner. After having children with Marlene, he decided to change up his career path and became an Ambulance Technician. After building his own house, Angus wanted to take another project on board which is where the concept of Moorpark Cottage came to fruition. Angus continues to balance his full-time job with his other hobbies such as looking after cows, crofting, and ensuring that Moorpark Cottages are well maintained and in working order.

Marlene Macleod | Owner

Marlene grew up in Port of Ness in the North of the island and left home as a teenager to start working on the mainland. She continued her travels by working on the cruise ships QE2 and Silver Cloud and travelled the world in doing so. Her wanderlust was put on pause after meeting Angus again after many years. They later married and settled in Barvas with two children and decided to pursue the building of Moorpark Cottages. Marlene also works for Historic Environment Scotland and enjoys meeting and helping visitors make the most of their time spent on the beautiful Isle of Lewis.
